Privacy policy

Sahrawiyat is a small atelier based in Nouakchott and Dakar, selling hand-dyed meulfas and signature pieces through this website. When this policy refers to "we", "us" or "our", we mean the people behind Sahrawiyat. You can reach us at sahrawiyat26@gmail.com.

We only ask for personal information when you choose to give it to us. The data we hold falls into three buckets:

• When you place an order. Your full name, email, phone number, shipping address (street, city, region, country) and any delivery notes you add. We use this to prepare your order, arrange delivery with the courier, send you order updates, and keep a record for accounting.
• When you subscribe to the newsletter. Just your email address. We use it to tell you about new drops and pieces. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying to one of our emails or writing to us.
• When you contact us. Your name, email, optional phone number, and whatever you write in the message. We use it to reply and, if relevant, to help with an order.

We do not buy personal data from anywhere else, and we do not run advertising trackers, social-media pixels or third-party analytics on this site.

Online payments (Wave, Orange Money, and bank transfer for international orders) are processed by NabooPay. When you pay, you are redirected to their secure checkout. We never see or store your wallet credentials, card numbers, or banking details. NabooPay sends us a payment reference and a confirmation that the order was paid, nothing more. Their own privacy policy applies to the data they handle.

For cash on delivery, no payment information is collected by us at all, you settle directly with the courier.

We do not sell or rent your personal information, ever. We share it only with the parties that help us run the shop:

• The courier who delivers your order, with the address, name and phone needed to reach you.
• NabooPay, for the payment leg of online orders.
• Our hosting and database providers, who store the site and order records on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments.
• Authorities, only when we are legally required to.

This site uses a single technical cookie to keep our admin team signed in to the back office. We do not use cookies to track visitors, build advertising profiles, or share data with third parties. Your shopping cart is stored in your browser's local storage on your device, not on our servers, until you check out.

Order records (including the address and contact details on them) are kept for as long as we need them for accounting and customer-support purposes, typically a few years. Newsletter subscribers stay on the list until they ask to be removed. Contact-form messages are kept while we are in conversation and archived once resolved. If you ask us to delete your data, we will, except where law requires us to retain certain records.

You can ask us, at any time, to:

• Tell you what personal information we hold about you.
• Correct anything that is wrong or out of date.
• Delete your information, where we are not required to keep it.
• Unsubscribe from the newsletter.

We protect the site with HTTPS, rate limiting on public forms, signed session cookies for the admin area, and signature verification on payment webhooks. We keep the number of people with access to your data to a minimum. No system is perfectly safe, so we ask you to use a strong, unique password for any account you create and to let us know if you spot anything suspicious.

Sahrawiyat is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us their information, please write to us and we will remove it.

If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and refresh the "last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we will also let you know by email if you are a customer or subscriber.
